TravelScoot Battery

Image

Project overview

We were contacted by someone from the TravelScoot group to explore creating a new battery, compatible with the then current TravelScoot scooter product line. The batteries they offered came from a partner in Taiwan; the batteries were more expensive than they should be and the functional design was outdated.

We needed to stay within the same physical form factor, given how the battery mounts within the scooter. We needed consideration for the power capacity to accomodate FAA flight restrictions for carry-on Lithium Batteries. We additionally explored intuitive usage, storage, and the challenges for older users like loss of strength, arthritis, vision, etc.

The challenge of project

We needed to find a way to create a better, safer, advanced battery, without making it ultimately more expensive. Many customers of this scooter are on a fixed income.

>Plug that is easier to remove

>Improved internal battery management

>Lower cost

>USB port for charging phones/cameras

>On/Off switch for storage

Final results

Ultimately, the Travelscoot parent company decided to stay with the Taiwanese manufacturer. We had such good feedback from users of our batteries, we then decided to manufacturer them anyway and offer them online. For more information, please visit www.TravelScootBattery.com
