
Project overview
Working with our long-time partner BP Telecom, we needed to design, source, build, and deliver a variety 24v Lithium battery products to a major USA carrier.
PB Telecom engineered thier own battery management system (BMS), and provided testing equipment and a specific certification process for us to verify quality and functionality of each BMS unit recieved, and then each complete, assembled battery unit.
The challenge of project
We needed to provide different operation runtimes because cell tower sites, ranging from urban cities, to rural stations, all have different regulatory backup power requirements.


Each 24v 8-cell pack was physically and electrically tested and QA certified. And each 8-cell pack was top-end balanced; our pack balancing system could manage 20 packs at a time and was hot-swappable.
>Battery units ranged from 60Ah up to 180Ah, all 24v.
>Batteries used a single integrated power distribution board; no more busbars.
>They started out with a passive balancing management board, and later upgraded to an active balancing management board.
>We also designed a smaller unit to turn on the generators used at some sites.
Final results
Our awesome Polynesian crew moved a few thousand batteries for this industry alone. Working in telecom was a completely different experience from any other industry. We moved fast, built cool stuff, and learned a lot along the way. 10/10 would do it again.
